Barbara Kaminsky has been the Chief Executive Officer for the BC and Yukon Division of the Canadian Cancer Society since 1994. She is passionate about inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle and reduce their risk of cancer. She is also dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and delivering caring community outreach programs to people living with cancer.
As the CEO of the largest non-profit organization in British Columbia, Ms. Kaminsky embodies volunteerism. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Tzu Chi Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She has served as a research award panelist for the National Cancer Institute of Canada. In addition, Ms. Kaminsky is on the Board of the Health Care Leaders Association of BC.
Prior to joining the CCS, Ms. Kaminsky distinguished herself as a senior level administrator at a number of Lower Mainland health care organizations.
Ms. Kaminsky holds three degrees from the University of British Columbia a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Masters of Social Work and a Masters of Science in Health Services Planning and Administration.
