As a Canadian Cancer Society-funded researcher, I believe we can develop natural-based cancer therapies that extend lives and enhance quality of life. Current cancer treatments like chemotherapy kill tumor cells and normal, healthy cells. But my laboratory team recently discovered that molecule levels in breast cells change
before becoming cancerous.
This means doctors will be able to determine a womans risk of the disease through blood test results and more accurate mammography screening.
I am very excited about our findings. By pinpointing these molecular targets, our data is leading the way to naturally prevent and even reverse the spread of the breast cancer and may apply to other types of cancer, too.
We forwarded our findings to other research teams across Canada and clinical trials are now underway. This vital first step is leading the way to natural-based therapies so doctors can predict and even prevent the spread of cancers before it happens!
Our work would not be possible without vital funding from the BC and Yukon Division of the Canadian Cancer Society. Support from donors has enabled us to discover this breakthrough in breast cancer research. But theres still much to be done. I invite you to support our efforts by making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Every dollar counts. Thank you again for your generous support.
